The pain it fixes
For the traveler
45% of US travelers named comparing multiple options as a frustrating moment in planning, the most-cited pain in the survey.
63% would pick a site showing ten curated options, over one with 500 options and filters (30%) or a single AI-built plan (7%).
Skift Research + McKinsey, Winning Hearts in an Age of Infinite Travel Choices, Sept 2026 · n = 1,015 US travelers, data as of June 2026. The 63% is a hypothetical choice with prices and inventory held equal. US travelers, not Alaska visitors.
For your business
A short, honest list that includes your partners makes you the local expert instead of one more open tab.
Visitors see why each trip made the cut, so they can check it. Partners send their guests to the same page.
The page is also plain, specific content that AI tools can quote. Tracking that is the next rung, 1.c.
Ten is a ceiling, not a target. Three good trips from three businesses is a fine start.
How it works
- List your trips and two partners' trips, one row each, using the approved facts from 1.a. About an evening.
- Name the traveler types you actually see, and choose which picker answers lead to each. About 30 minutes.
- Set up a Claude Project, a ChatGPT Project or custom GPT, or a Gemini Gem, then paste the run prompt. About an evening.
- Paste the AI's reply back here. The checker matches every pick against your trips. Minutes, plus fixes.
- Generate the picker, get each partner's approval for its own lines, then paste it into Squarespace, Wix or a plain text block. Two or three evenings, mostly waiting for approvals.
Times are estimates. Everything on this page runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere; your work is saved in this browser only.
Loaded now: fictional teaching data. Bay Light Day Cruises (Seward), Mile 12 Kennel and Harbor Kayak Co. are invented businesses. Replace them with your own approved facts.
Step 1 · Your inventory
One row per trip. Use facts a traveler could check, copied from the fact sheets you approved in 1.a. Leave a box empty when you do not know: the prompt shows it as [FILL] and the AI is told not to guess.
Business facts only. No guest names, emails, phone numbers, payment details or health information.
Or paste rows from a spreadsheet
See the whole inventory as a table
Step 2 · Traveler types and picker answers
List the traveler types you actually see. Four common ones are filled in. The picker on your site asks three questions: who is traveling, how much time, what matters most. For each type, choose the answers that should lead to its list. "Any" fits every answer.
The picker weighs "Who is traveling?" most, then the other two answers. When lists tie, it shows each of them. Each pick also shows the trip's duration and minimum age from step 1, so a family can spot a trip that is not for young children.
Change the answer choices
One choice per line. Changes apply when you leave the box.
Step 3 · Set up your AI workspace and run the prompt
Use a workspace that keeps your files and instructions, so you can rerun this every season. A paid plan is for file limits and reliability, not a different model. About $20 a month is an estimate; check current plans.
Claude Project
- In Claude, open Projects and create a new project. Name it "Curated picks".
- Paste the project instructions below into the project's instructions box.
- Add the files listed below to the project's knowledge.
- Start a new chat inside the project and paste the run prompt.
ChatGPT Project or custom GPT
- Project: in ChatGPT, create a new project from the sidebar. Open its settings and paste the project instructions below. Add the files listed below.
- Or custom GPT: open GPTs, choose Create, then Configure. Paste the instructions into Instructions and upload the files under Knowledge. Keep sharing set to only you while you test.
- Start a chat in the project or GPT and paste the run prompt.
Gemini Gem
- In Gemini, open Gems and create a new Gem. Name it "Curated picks".
- Paste the project instructions below into the Gem's instructions, and add the files listed below as its knowledge.
- Save the Gem, start a chat with it, and paste the run prompt.
Open Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini in a new tab and paste the text yourself; this page never sends it anywhere. Menu names change. These steps were written in October 2026. A work account may have features turned off by your admin.
Files to add
- Your inventory as a CSV
- The approved fact sheet from 1.a for your business and for each partner.
- Optional: your last 50 reviews, with guest names removed. They are background only.
Recommendation Before you upload anything, check the tool's data-use settings and your own business policy.

Step 4 · Check the AI's picks
Paste the AI's whole reply, or only its JSON block. The checker runs in this browser. It confirms that:
- every
product_idis in your inventory; - every
cited_factappears in that trip's row; - no list has more than three picks;
- no number appears that your inventory and traveler types do not contain;
- no prices, availability, ratings or generic claims slipped in.
Remove guest names, emails, phone numbers and payment details before pasting.
A pass is not a verdict. It means the picks match your inventory. It does not mean a trip is right for a guest. You and each partner still read every line. An AI checking its own work is not verification.
Step 5 · Build your "Which trip fits you?" picker
The picker asks three questions and shows the matching list, with the "why it made the cut" line under each trip. It has no prices or availability, loads nothing from other sites, and tracks no one. If a site blocks scripts, visitors still see every list.
Optional: a link to each business
A plain link to each business's own page for that trip, starting with https://. Leave empty for no link. Booking pages are where prices and availability belong.

Where to paste it
- Squarespace: edit the page, add a Code block, paste the picker code, and save. Squarespace runs scripts in Code blocks only on some plans (in October 2026 its Code blocks help page listed Core, Plus and Advanced). Without scripts, visitors see every list, without the three questions.
- Wix: open Add Elements, choose Embed Code, then Embed HTML. Choose Enter Code, paste the picker code, and apply. Make the frame tall enough that nothing is cut off. See Wix's embedding help page.
- No code blocks: paste the plain-text version into a normal text block, and keep the "why it made the cut" lines.
Menu names change; these were written in October 2026. Test on a hidden or draft page first, on a phone too.
Downloads
- inventory-template.csv The ten columns, with the three fictional trips as sample rows. Open it in Excel or Google Sheets.
- picks.schema.json The JSON shape the run prompt asks for, as a JSON Schema, for anyone automating this.
- example-picks.json The checked picks for the fictional data.
- picker-template.html A finished sample picker built from the fictional data. Open it in any browser.
How you will know it worked
- From the page: page views, saves, inquiries and bookings that start on the picker page. Your site builder's own analytics shows page views. Add "Which trip fits you? page" as a choice where your inquiry or booking form asks how guests found you.
- Number 2, direct share of bookings: bookings on your own site or phone divided by all bookings, counted monthly.
- Partners: referrals each way. Agree on referral codes first (that is 3.b).
Count one month before you publish, so you have something to compare against. One season is a directional read, not proof.
Before you use it
AI drafts. You approve. Every AI reply is marked DRAFT - PENDING OWNER REVIEW. The checker on this page matches text; it does not judge whether a trip is right or safe.
- Policy choice Each business approves its own lines before anything is published.
- Contractual Check your referral or partner agreement, and each booking channel's terms, for rules on using names, content and links.
- Policy choice No prices or availability in the picker. They change, and each business owns its own. Link to booking pages instead.
- Recommendation "Runs in rain" is a published policy, not a forecast. The go/no-go call on the day, on the water, on a glacier or near wildlife belongs to the captain or lead guide.
- Legal mandate If a pick is a guided hunt or sport-fishing trip, the guide's license under AS 08.54 or the ADF&G sport-fishing guide and business registration stays with the guide. A referral page does not move that duty to you or to an AI.
- Recommendation Use de-identified reviews only, and check the AI tool's data-use settings before uploading files.
